Description
When I log out of my Mac OS X server, Universal Type Server stops running.
Solution
If you have Java 6 version 1.6.0_51, or newer installed on your UTS Server, UTS will stop if you log out of Mac OS X.
To work around this issue, we recommend setting up your Mac server’s screen saver to require a password. That way you can secure your server by initiating the screen saver without having to log out.
Here’s how to do this:
- In the Apple Menu, select System Preferences
- Click on ‘Security and Privacy’
- Click the lock icon in the bottom left corner and authenticate
- Under the General tab, enable the ‘Require password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins’ option
- Click on ‘Show All’ at the top so that you can see all system preferences again
- Click on ‘Desktop & Screensaver’
- Switch to the Screen Saver tab
- Select the screen saver you prefer and set a time interval in the ‘Start after:’ menu
- Make any additional setting changes, as needed
- Close System Preferences
